Before us is a stunning modern masterpiece of Kyoto ceramics (Kyo-yaki / Shimizu-yaki).
This is the work of the outstanding master Tsuchibuchi Zenhitsu (born 1949), the third-generation head of the renowned Toan dynasty. The Toan workshop, founded in Kyoto in 1922, is renowned for its impeccable, rich glazes, but it was Zenhitsu who perfected the complex historical technique of Konoha Tenmoku to absolute technical perfection.
 
What makes this lot exceptional:
Konoha Tenmoku (Fused Leaf) technique: This is an ancient Chinese magic from the Song Dynasty (from the Jizhou kilns). A real leaf (usually from a mulberry tree) is placed on the bottom of the bowl before firing. During the firing process at temperatures over 1200°C, all organic matter is burned away, but the minerals contained in the leaf react with the black iron glaze. A delicate, perfect ash-colored skeleton of the leaf solidifies forever at the bottom of the bowl. The design is unique, impossible to replicate twice.
Poetic name (Mei) - "Tsuyu": A large calligraphic character is applied in gold to the luxurious, glossy dark surface of the bowl. The name perfectly echoes the aesthetic of the piece—golden dew on a leaf in deep twilight.

Tomobako: Accompanied by its original, premium paulownia wood box signed and sealed on the lid by the master.
Shiori: Includes the original printed artist biography/pamphlet (shiori) documenting the heritage of the Tōan studio.

Pristine, mint collector's condition. Entirely free of cracks, surface scratches, chips, flea bites, or cosmetic flaws. Glaze retention and gilding remain in gallery-level condition.
