This exquisite vintage tea bowl (chawan) is a tactile masterpiece of Japanese ceramic art. It features a prominent artisan seal on the base: the Kanji character (Satoru), which translates to "Awakening," "Enlightenment," or "Perception." This is not just a cup; it is a meditation tool designed to bring the holder into the present moment.
 
The Craftsmanship:
Style: A rare and expressive fusion of Shino and Oribe traditions. The thick, milky feldspar glaze (Shino) meets the bold, energetic sweeps of copper-green glaze (Oribe).
Tactile Experience: The body of the bowl features intentional hand-formed "mountain and valley" ridges, providing a secure and grounding grip for both hands.
 
The Glaze (Kannyu): A beautiful network of fine "living" crackles. In Japan, these are celebrated as they age and take on the subtle tint of the tea over years of use, a process known as "nurturing the bowl."
The Foot (Kodai): The base is left unglazed to showcase the raw, iron-rich clay, providing a stunning contrast to the lush glazes above.
